STAVANGER, Norway – The Main Events List/Main Incidents List (MEL/MIL) Scripting Workshop for NATO Exercise TRIDENT JACKAL 2019 (TRJA19) took place from 9 to 18 July at Joint Warfare Centre’s (JWC) training facility in Stavanger, Norway.

Over 100 participants across NATO and from Allied and Partner Nations, representatives from governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations as well as additional external sources came together at the workshop to continue the planning and preparation for TRIDENT JACKAL 2019, scheduled to take place this fall. Three NATO Centres of Excellence – Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), Stability Policing Centre of Excellence (SPCOE), and Human Intelligence Centre of Excellence (HUMINT COE) – also supported the training event with their specific areas of expertise and knowledge.

“This has been a successful workshop,” said British Navy Commander Nicholas Meredith, JWC’s Chief MEL/MIL for the exercise, adding: “Against the backdrop of time and resource constraints, which forced us to take a significantly different approach to exercise development, the participants have worked extremely well to deliver a solid product for the exercise. I am confident that this will set a good platform for NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Spain to achieve their Training Objectives.”

Sponsored by NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT), Exercise TRIDENT JACKAL 2019 is a two-level (operational and tactical) command post exercise that will train and certify NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Spain (NRDC-ESP) in a Joint Task Force Headquarters role, able to plan and conduct a Land-heavy Small Joint Crisis Response Operation under the direct command of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).

Exercise TRIDENT JACKAL 2019 will be directed by German Navy Rear Admiral Jan C. Kaack, Commander JWC.
