STAVANGER, Norway – A group of students and staff from the Fuehrungsakademie der Bundeswehr, the Military Academy of the German Armed Forces, visited NATO's Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on June 25, 2019 to gain a broader understanding of the Centre’s role and mission as the Alliance’s footprint in the North.

Led by Colonel (GS) Hans Joerg Witt, the delegation was welcomed by Polish Army Major General Andrzej Reudowicz, Commander JWC. The delegation then received a mission briefing by Norwegian Navy Captain Tom Robertsen, the Centre’s Director of Management, which introduced them to the organization as well as its structure and capabilities.

During their visit, the delegation also received a series of briefings from multiple divisions on a variety of topics, including the JWC’s new training methodology and how it fits into future warfare development efforts; the Centre's transformational role in the development and management of NATO’s synthetic scenario settings; the role of the Opposing Force in JWC-directed exercises replicating up to a peer adversary, as well as the upcoming exercise TRIDENT JUPITER 2019 – JWC’s first Campaign Exercise with a broader scope, increased complexity and unique operational requirements.

Based in Hamburg, the Fuehrungsakademie der Bundeswehr is known as the premier training and education facility of the top echelon of the German Armed Forces. The General Staff College has included a visit to the JWC within its curriculum since 2007.
