Lieutenant General John Thomson, Commander of NATO Allied Land Command (LANDCOM), paid an orientation visit to the Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Wednesday, 31 October 2018.

The visit programme in Stavanger included an Office Call with Major General Andrzej Reudowicz, Commander JWC, and a mission briefing by Rear Admiral James A. Kirk, the Centre’s Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, on the mission and current activities of the JWC as the premier training establishment of the NATO Alliance at the operational level.

Lieutenant General Thomson also had the opportunity to visit the JWC Bunker where he was briefed by Lieutenant General Christian Juneau, Deputy Commander of Allied Joint Force Command Naples, on Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018; NATO’s largest exercise since the end of the Cold War.

The forthcoming Command Post Exercise (CPX) portion of TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018 will be directed by the JWC, following the ongoing high-visibility Live Exercise (LIVEX) in Norway.

Lieutenant General Thomson assumed duties with Allied Land Command in Izmir, Turkey, in August 2018.
