Ambassador H.E. Bea ten Tusscher visits JWC
The Honourable Bea ten Tusscher, the Netherlands Ambassador to Norway and Iceland, accompanied by the Netherlands Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Peter Teeuw, visited NATO’s JWC on Monday 3 February. The delegation was greeted by German Army Major General Erhard Buehler, Commander JWC.
High level visit at Joint Warfare Centre
The JWC today welcomed the visit of Royal Norwegian Air Force Lieutenant General Erik Gustavson, Chief of Defence Staff Norway, and a Finnish delegation led by Finnish Army Lieutenant General Mika Peltonen, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations Finland.
JJJ meeting at Jatta discusses NATO’s future training roadmap
On Monday 13 January, German Army Major General Erhard Buehler, Commander JWC, hosted the JJJ meeting to discuss current issues and foster mutual understanding, teamwork and further cooperation between NATO’s three training centres.
JWC participates in Societal Safety Conference 2014
The National Societal Safety Conference 2014 (Samfunnssikkerhetskonferansen 2014) brought 309 participants to the University of Stavanger on Thursday 9 January to discuss the extraordinary events and stresses society is exposed to, with theories related to understanding risk, security and crisis management, combined with preparedness and prevention.

The Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) recently concluded its participation in NATO’s Exercise STEADFAST JAZZ 2013 conducted 2 – 9 November in Latvia.
Exercise STEADFAST JAZZ 13
ISAF TE 13-02
For nearly three weeks, approximately 1,200 military and civilian personnel gathered at Camp Aachen in Grafenwoehr, Germany, to conduct the four-tiered, combined NATO and USA exercise United Endeavor 14-1/ISAF Training Event 13-02. Training Audiences (TA) from NATO Standing HQs, US Corps and Individual Augmentees (IAs) from Troop Contributing Nations (TCNs) were trained to fill future staff positions within ISAF HQ, HQ IJC and RC-E in Afghanistan.
JWC hosted special 10th anniversary reception
23 October 2013 marks the tenth anniversary of NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger, Norway. In honour of the special occasion, U.S. Air Force Brigadier General John W. Doucette, Chief of Staff JWC, on behalf of German Army Major General Erhard Buehler, COM JWC, hosted a birthday reception, which was open to all JWC staff.
DSACT visits JWC
The JWC today welcomed the visit of Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (DSACT), Italian Air Force General Mirco Zuliani, from Norfolk, Virginia, USA. This was the first official visit paid by General Zuliani following his assumption of duties as DSACT from Polish Army General Mieczysław Bieniek on 4 September this year.

The Honorable Giorgio Novello, the Italian Ambassador to Norway, accompanied by the Italian Defence Attaché Brigadier General Antonello De Sio, visited the JWC on Monday 21 October.

JWC celebrates German Unification Day
In celebration of the 23rd anniversary of Germany’s unification, the German Element in Stavanger, Norway, hosted a festive reception on 3 October for all JWC staff, represented by 16 Nations, and their families.
Training key to NATO's future, says SACEUR

NATO civilian receives ''Non-Article 5'' medal for service in Afghanistan
During a JWC All Hands Call on Wednesday 18 September, Mr. Robert Scheider from the Joint Training Division, received the award of the “Non-Article 5” medal and certificate signed by NATO Secretary General H.E. Anders Fogh Rasmussen in support of the Alliance’s ISAF operation in Afghanistan.
JWC Staff Development Integration programme
JWC’s annual Staff Development Integration (SDI) programme was held in downtown Stavanger on 3-5 September. “This was our fourth year and the most diverse programme to date,” said Mr. Paul Sewell, one of the co-founders of the SDI and a Lessons Learned Analyst at the JWC.
