International Day celebrated with food, fun and presentations at Joint Warfare Centre
On Sunday, 22 January 2017, the JWC community held its annual International Day celebration. This event allows our community to get together, meet new community members or catch up with others, and enjoy food and beverages from many of the Nations represented here at the Joint Warfare Centre (JWC).
This year, again, we had a truly fantastic selection of items from all 16 of the Nations represented here at the JWC, spread over 24 tables.
From Polish "bigos", Austrian schnitzel, Czech dumplings and German cakes to Spanish "paella", British fish and chips, Turkish "doner" and sweets, and Canadian moose milk, the items on offer by our Community members were simply fantastic.
The celebration was opened by JWC’s Director of Management, Norwegian Army Colonel Jan Østbø. He said: “On behalf of Commander JWC, Major General Andrzej Reudowicz, I would like to welcome you and your families to our 13th annual International Day. I would like to thank all Senior National Representatives and their national community members and families for all of the preparations, time, hard work and excellent presentations for today. All of your tables look simply fantastic!”
Colonel Østbø then thanked the Community Support Branch team for organizing the event as well as the spouses and family members of the JWC staff: “Without your support, JWC wouldn’t be the world-class training centre that it is today,” he said.
The day also included an opportunity for our families to have a quick tour of what we call the “Bunker” and an Open House where staff members could take their families to their work areas to show it off a bit! This was simply a very enjoyable event made possible by all of our Community family members.
