The new US Ambassador to Norway visits JWC
The newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to Norway, H.E. Samuel D. Heins and his wife Ms Stacey Mills visited the Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Wednesday, 27 April.
The Ambassador was accompanied by U.S. Embassy Political Economics Officer Ms Kristin Westphal and the Head of the Commercial Section, Mr Vidar Keyn.
During his visit, Ambassador Heins had an office call with German Army Major General Reinhard Wolski, Commander JWC and the U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Roger H. Watkins, JWC's Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, and received a series of briefings to learn more about the mission of the JWC as NATO's footprint in Norway. The Ambassador then met with the Centre's U.S. military and civilian personnel and attended a luncheon hosted by Major General Wolski.
The official programme also included a guided tour of the Centre's state-of-the-art training facility and a visit to the 426th Air Base Squadron.
H.E. Samuel D. Heins, a lawyer and human rights advocate, has recently served on the Board of Governors of the Endowment Campaign of the University of Minnesota Law School, and on the boards of the Ploughshares Fund, PEN American Center and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Minnesota. He earned a B.A. and J.D. from the University of Minnesota, and was awarded the school's Regent's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010.
H.E. Samuel D. Heins assumed the duties of U.S. Ambassador to Norway on 11 March 2016.
