Presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth R. Burton Jr., the Commander of the 426th Air Base Squadron, the ceremony was held as part of the overall United States Diplomatic Security Relationship Program.

Lieutenant Colonel Burton, who is also the leader of the U.S. National Support Element in Stavanger, Norway, presented the U.S. Air Force Certificates of Commendation to eight Norwegian conscripts in support of their outstanding on-site security services and for maintaining very high standards of personal and professional conduct while performing their duties.

“You have been an integral part of our mission here in Stavanger, supporting us around the clock every day of your one-year tour. I applaud your willingness to stand watch and enable us to carry out our duties with confidence,” Lieutenant Colonel Burton told the awardees.

Following an approximately three-month training at the Naval Basic Training Centre Harald Haarfagre (Camp Madla) in Stavanger, the Norwegian conscripts are then assigned to perform tasks related to force protection and fire safety within the Jatta military facility, which is home to NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) as well as the Squadron, and five other National Support Elements.
