NATO's Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) is currently conducting a modified ISAF training for Composite Headquarters at its Ulsnes Training Facility until 14th of February.

CAPEX 2007CAX Planners Exercise (CAPEX 07) was conducted in Ulsnes between 15th and 19th of January 2007. On the first day of CAPEX, briefings about CAX processes and CAX tools were given. After syndicate work on the second day, a two-day mini CAX was conducted.

NATO will conduct Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) Exercise Steadfast JAW 06 (SFJW 06) between 9 and 22 November 2006. SFJW 06 will take place at several locations, including Ulsnes, Norway; Ramstein, Germany; Istanbul, Turkey and Northwood, United Kingdom.

STAVANGER, Norway - NATO's Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) will host and conduct ISAF X Composite Headquarters Mission Rehearsal Training from 9-19 October 2006 at its Ulsnes Training Facility.

The First NATO Joint Computer Assisted Exercise Forum (CAX FORUM) was held at NATO's Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway, 26-29 September 2006.

On Wednesday, June 21, U.S. Air Force General Lance L. Smith, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, hosted a press conference in Radisson Atlantic Hotel, Stavanger, Norway, with Her Excelleny Anne-Grete Strom Erichsen, Norwegian Minister of Defence and His Excellency Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, NATO Secretary General.

Her Excellency Anne-Grete Strom Erichsen, Norwegian Minister of Defence formally signed today, 21 June 2006, a Memorandum of Agreement with Air Marshal Peter B. Walker, CB CBE BA, Royal Air Force, Director Joint Warfare Centre, declaring that Norway is "willing and able to provide substantial Host Nation Support to support the personnel at Joint Warfare Centre in fulfilling their important mission."

The SACT Seminar 2006 will be held June 20-22, 2006 in Stavanger, Norway. The Seminar Headquarters and conference sessions will be held at the Radisson SAS Atlantic Hotel in Centrum Stavanger. Additional conference sessions will be held at Joint Warfare Center training facilities.

NATO´s Infrastructure Committee has approved the funding for the Jåttå Permanent Office and Training Facility for the Joint Warfare Centre on 25 April 2006. The aim of this project is to build a facility using cutting edge technology to match the wide variety of requirements of staff coming from NATO´s operational level headquarters and JWC alike.

SPS CASTILLA LANGELAND 2006NATO exercise Steadfast Jackpot 2006 is currently taking place in two locations simultaneously: Stavanger, Norway at Joint Warfare Centre Ulsnes Training Facility and at a training area near Strasbourg, France. Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC Brunssum), The Netherlands, is conducting the exercise. 

NATO's Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) will train and prepare the Commanders and staff assigned to Headquarters ISAF IX for the successful conduct of their mission, which will run from 03-15 March 2006 at its Ulsnes Training Facility. The Mission Rehearsal Training (MRT) will aim at developing the operational awareness and staff processes of Headquarters ISAF IX and will comprise the following training blocks: Individual Training, Key Leader Training, Mission Specific Training, Functional Area Training, Battle Staff Training, Mission Rehearsal Exercise and Counterpart Training.

Dual-hatted as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander-Transformation (SACT) and Commander of the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM), Air Force General Lance L. Smith paid a visit to the JWC on 6 February 2006. It was his first time to visit the JWC, where he was warmly welcomed by Air Marshal Walker, Director JWC and Vice Admiral Jan Reksten, Commander National Joint Headquarters (NJHQ).

Allied Warrior (AW 05) is a SHAPE/Allied Command Operations (ACO) Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX) designed to integrate and certify combat readiness for the Land- and Air components for the NRF rotation January-June 2006 (NRF VI).

The Iraqis visited Stavanger's police headquarters on Tuesday as a part of their Joint Warfare Centre key leader training. What left them speechless in the end was that the cells were cleaned to perfection and the surprisingly low number of officers on duty each day who in addition are unarmed.

STAVANGER, Norway On the 03 October twenty-eight key leaders from Iraq's security forces arrived in Stavanger. They are the third group to receive training at NATO Joint Warfare Center as part of NATO Training Mission to Iraq.

2005 JULY TRIPLEJ MEETINGHosted by Air Marshal Walker, Director JWC, the discussions aimed to identify the roles and responsibilities of the three Centres. Some of the other visitors were Rear Admiral Gerard Maurer, Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, Joint Experimentation, Exercises and Assasment, HQ SACT, Major General Peter Kuhnel, Director JFTC, Navy Captain Mike Lucarelli, CSI, HQ SACT, Colonel Jose Castelao, Chief of Staff, JALLC. 

NATO Parliamentary Assembly Sub-Committee on Transatlantic Security and Co-operation paid a visit to the Joint Warfare Centre/National Joint Headquarters Jatta on June 16, 2005.

The Chief of Staff of the Norwegian National Joint Headquarters, Brigadier General Gustavsen and the Chief of Staff of the Joint Warfare Centre, Brigadier General Mueller warmly welcomed the visitors and after the Command Briefing at NJHQ, they were briefed about Cold Weather Operations. According to NATO's New Command Structure, a number of nationally or multinationally sponsored Centres of Excellence will focus on specific military felds and Norway was selected as the Centre of Excellence for Cold Weather. The visitors then visited JWC's training facility at Ulsnes where the ISAF VIII Mission Rehearsal Training will be held from 10-23 June 2005.  

In order to accommodate the ever-increasing demand from the JWC staff and attain required standards, NATO's Senior Resource Board approved the construction of an interim office accommodation at the JWC. The construction has already started and work is continuing through the month of June.  When completed, the IOA will be able to accommodate 150 people. "The aim is to upgrade the internal structure of the JWC to fulfil its role to the best potential," said Maj Danielsen, who has been involved with the project since its birth.

JUNE 2005 RUMSFELD VISITDuring the visit to Norway, 7-8 June 2005, US Defence Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld met with Norwegian Defence Minister, Kristin Krohn Devold at the JWC/NJHQ Jatta to sign a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the reinforcement of Norway; to discuss multilateral security cooperation between the United States and Norway and the role of the Alliance's future security environment and NATO's role. After his visit to Norway, Mr Rumsfeld will travel to Brussels on Thursday, 9 June 2005, to participate to the North Atlantic Council (NAC) Defence Ministers' formal meeting that is held twice a year at the NATO Headquarters.

May 11, 2005, Sant Climent, Spain - NATO is testing and certifying NATO Joint Command Lisbon`s ability to stand up a Deployed Joint Task Force (DJTF) and Combined Joint Task Force Headquarters (CJTF). The NATO Response Force (NRF) will conduct operations during exercises that will start on 17 May and will end on 3 June 2005.
