1gnc visit 5sep thumbnailSTAVANGER, Norway – British Army Lieutenant General Stuart Skeates CBE, Deputy Commander of Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC Brunssum), visited the Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020.

He was welcomed to the Centre by German Navy Rear Admiral Jan C. Kaack, Commander JWC. Following the office call with Rear Admiral Kaack, Lieutenant General Skeates took part in discussions focusing on the current status of exercise STEADFAST JUPITER 2021 and the upcoming exercise TRIDENT JUPITER 2019-2 (TRJU19-2).

During the visit, Lieutenant General Skeates also had the opportunity to observe the Main Events List/Main Incidents List (MEL/MIL) Incident Development Workshop for TRJU19-2.

As the second iteration of NATO’s three-part TRIDENT JUPITER 2019 Exercise Campaign, TRJU19-2 is linked to last year’s TRIDENT JUPITER 2019-1 (TRJU19-1) and the upcoming, one-level (tactical/land-centric) exercise LOYAL LEDA, which will be directed by the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC).

TRJU19-2 is larger and more extensive than its predecessor, TRJU19-1. The consecutive exercises are based upon NATO Article 5, Collective Defence scenario created by the JWC.

The TRIDENT JUPITER 2019 Exercise Campaign, as NATO’s largest command post exercise in recent years, will certify NATO Response Force 2020; with TRJU19-2 providing a compelling training environment to evaluate and certify JFC Brunssum as a Joint Task Force headquarters.

TRJU19-2 is scheduled to be executed this March after more than two years of planning and coordination. The NATO Response Force provides NATO's primary response to emerging crises, disasters and other contingencies.

The exercise will be directed by Rear Admiral Kaack, who is designated as the ODE, or Officer Directing the Exercise.
