Querido was greeted by German Navy Rear Admiral Jan C. Kaack, Commander JWC. Following an Office Call with the Commander, the programme continued with a mission briefing by U.S. Navy Rear Admiral James A. Kirk, JWC’s Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, and a series of detailed briefings on the planning process, scenario, and coordination for the exercise scheduled to be conducted in 2020.

Sponsored by SHAPE, the computer-assisted command post exercise STEADFAST JUPITER-JACKAL 2020 is based on an out-of-area non-Article 5 scenario created and developed by the JWC.

STJU-JA20 is also the first exercise in recent years where Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) will serve as the Officer Scheduling the Exercise (OSE).

The exercise will be directed by Rear Admiral Kaack, who is designated as the Officer Directing the Exercise (ODE).

Subordinate to Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT), the Joint Warfare Centre is the premier collective training establishment of the NATO Alliance at the operational level.

The Centre plans and delivers static/distributed joint operational-level training, while, at the same time, actively supporting concept and doctrine development, the lessons learned process and integration of experimentation into exercises to strengthen NATO’s interoperability, capabilities and operational effectiveness.
