Italian Air Force Major General Stefano Vito Salamida, Allied Command Transformation (ACT) Deputy Chief of Staff Joint Force Trainer, paid a visit to NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Thursday, 9 February 2017.
Upon his arrival, Major General Salamida was welcomed by Polish Army Major General Andrzej Reudowicz, Commander JWC, and US Navy Rear Admiral Brad Skillman, JWC’s Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff.
Major General Salamida was accompanied by Italian Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Pasquale D’Amico, his Military Assistant, and Mr Stuart B. Furness OBE, ACT Joint Force Trainer (JFT) Programme Manager.
The visit programme included an Office Call with Major General Reudowicz, followed by a mission briefing by Rear Admiral Skillman, which outlined JWC’s current Programme of Work (POW) within NATO’s collective training framework. Overall the briefings focused on NATO’s training requirements for future exercises, new training challenges and opportunities for the JWC and the development of future training scenarios. Mr Furness then presented a review of NATO’s Exercise Programme with an eye on the emerging training requirements being developed as part of the NATO Exercise Programme Review (NEPR).
During his tour of the facilities, Major General Salamida received an overview presentation about Exercise TRIDENT JAVELIN 17 (TRJN17) by Royal Air Force Wg Cdr Christopher Ball, JWC’s Officer of Primary Responsibility (OPR) for this exercise, which will be one of the top exercises for NATO in 2017. The official visit programme at JWC concluded with briefings on JWC’s CAX simulation capabilities and a visit to the Centre's live broadcast studio.
