Military representatives from 28 countries visited NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Wednesday, 27 May under the framework of the Military Partnership Directorate (MPD) in SHAPE/Mons, Belgium.
The delegation was greeted by U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Roger H. Watkins, JWC's Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff.
MPD is a Bi-Strategic Command (Bi-SC) organization, which provides “direction, control, coordination, support and assessment of military cooperation activities across the Alliance.”(1)
The visiting delegation was led by Turkish Air Force Major General Ali Cetinkaya, SHAPE Deputy Chief of Staff, Military Partnership Directorate. The visit programme included a series of briefings that aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of JWC’s mission as NATO’s premier collective training facility at the operational level and its current activities with focus on training and exercises. Also included in the programme were a guided tour of the Centre’s state-of-the-art training facility and exposure to the Centre’s advanced CAX and media simulation capabilities.
