German Army Major General Reinhard Wolski, Commander JWC, awarded the “Non-Article 5” NATO Medal as well as the annual NATO Meritorious Service Medal to two JWC staff members respectively, during an All Hands Call at Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Friday, 6 February.
First, French Army Master Sergeant Franck Morizot received the award of the “Non-Article 5” Medal and certificate signed by NATO Secretary General H.E. Jens Stoltenberg in support of the Alliance’s ISAF operation in Afghanistan. Then, Mr. Garry Hargreaves, JWC’s Head of Organizational Development Planning, received the award of the “NATO Meritorious Service Medal” for distinguished service and outstanding leadership while assigned on NATO duties.
The “Non-Article 5” NATO Medal awarded for personnel participating in NATO operations in Afghanistan was established by the North Atlantic Council in December 2003.
The NATO Meritorious Service Medal was also introduced in 2003 in recognition of both operational and non-operational exceptional or remarkable service to NATO for nominated military and civilian personnel.
Both Medals are the personal awards of the NATO Secretary General, who signs each citation.
